St. Patrick's Day Parade


  • 3/1-3/31 - GUST: Celebrating a Decade of Discovery - Houston
  • GUST: Celebrating a Decade of Discovery is an interactive art installation that the Discovery Green Conservancy commissioned from Cocolab, a Mexico City-based studio. Composed of nearly 2,000 custom-made pinwheels installed along the park’s Brown Foundation Promenade, the work is animated by fluctuating breezes as well as interactions with the public, creating a kinetic field of color under Discovery Green’s live oak allée. 

  • 03/02 - First Saturday Arts Market - Houston
  • First Saturday Arts Market in the Houston Heights is Houston’s longest continuously running outdoor fine art event. Boasting close to 50 artists each month, the market is best described as a small-scale version of  a large juried art festival. With food trucks, local singer/songwriters, beer and wine, the market is a stop on the busiest day of the month for Houston’s oldest community. The market showcases paintings, sculpture, photography, jewelry, and handcrafted items. 

  • 3/11-3/15 - FUNomenal Spring Break at Discovery Green - Houston
  • Celebrate Spring Break with five fun-packed days for the whole family at Discovery Green. FUNomenal Spring Break week includes FREE, fun, foamy and festive activities!

  • 03/16 - 60th Annual Houston St. Patrick's Parade - Houston 
  • The Houston St. Patrick's Parade is a two-hour parade that has historically been one of the largest in the U.S. and each year includes over 100 entries to delight the Irish and Irish-at-heart.

  • 03/16 - Flea by Night - Houston
  • Treasure-hunt at this monthly, one-of-a-kind market nestled in the southeast end of the downtown park and along Avenida de las Americas. The destination market features an array of artful kitsch, vintage items, mid-century modern furniture, recycled and repurposed items and collectibles, and crafts by local artisans and designers. Whether you are a bargain hunter or an eco-sensitive collector dedicated to repurposing and reusing, seek and find at Discovery Green Flea by Night while enjoying light bites and local entertainment. The event is free to attend and open to the public. 

  • 03/24 - 6th Annual Hermann Park Conservancy Kite Festival - Houston
  • During Hermann Park Conservancy's 6th Annual Kite Festival, Houstonians from every part of the city converge on Miller Hill to fly kites of all shapes and colors. This festival will offer entertainment from local performers and cultural and community organizations, interactive activities and crafts, kite flying, face painting, food trucks, roaming characters, and more. 

  • 03/30 - Teen Book Convention - League City
  • TeenBookCon will feature more than 25 authors of young adult fiction and graphic novels doing panel sessions. Participating authors include Laurie Halse Anderson, Scott Brown, Sabina Khan, Lizzy Mason, Caleb Roehrig, Veronica Roth, Angie Thomas, Don Zolidis, and more.

Budget-Friendly Events

  • All of March - The Rink: Rolling at Discovery Green - Houston - $8-$14
  • Houston’s first outdoor roller rink returns for a third season. Guests will experience seven weeks of roller-skating fun (including weekly theme nights) at Discovery Green.

  • 3/1-3/3, 3/8-3/9, 3/23-3/24 & 3/29-3/30 - The Best of Broadway - Houston - $31/$41
  • The Music Box Theater salutes Broadway musicals in its first 2019 production: Best of Broadway. The new production features iconic songs that span decades of musical theater—from the classic “Luck Be a Lady” from Guys and Dolls to other smash hits like “Memory” from Cats, “Age of Aquarius” from Hair, “Man of La Mancha” from Man of La Mancha, “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables. and many more.

  • 3/1-3/3 - River Oaks Garden Club presents Azalea Trail - Houston - $10/$30
  • The 84th Azalea Trail will herald the beginning of spring. The Trail kicks off with the annual ribbon cutting at the Lazy Lane entrance of Bayou Bend. They will honor Gary Tinterow, Director of MFAH, at this year’s ribbon cutting ceremony. The ticket to the Trail gives admission to six locations within the River Oaks neighborhood, including four private homes and gardens, Bayou Bend, and Rienzi. A seventh free location is the River Oaks Garden Club Forum of Civics, where free advice from “Ask the Experts” can be enjoyed each day. Also at the Forum this year, there will be free floral demonstrations by ROGC members.

  • 3/1-3/3 - Mamma Mia! - Houston - $30-$135
  • Mamma Mia! is a jukebox musical featuring all the hits from ABBA. The raucous, hilarious musical about a wedding on a Greek island tells the sweet story of love and heartbreak.

  • 3/1-3/2 - Mardi Gras! Galveston - Galveston - $24+
  • The Island’s 108th Mardi Gras celebration is expected to draw more than 300,000 attendees for 30+ concerts, 22 parades, 20 balcony parties, and five elegant masked balls. And, this island-style Mardi Gras has plenty of personality. From the classic revelry found in the heart of Galveston’s historic downtown district, where the bulk of festivities take place, to electronic dance parties and family-friendly events and parades, Mardi Gras.

  • 3/1-3/2 - Peter and the Wolf at Uptown - Houston - $15-$30
  • Step into the whimsical world of Peter and the Wolf, Sergei Prokofiev’s classic tale that tells the adventure of Peter and his friends as they capture a wolf. The audience is introduced to each character with a musical theme played by a different instrument of the orchestra, accompanied with original choreography by Artistic Director Beth Gulledge-Brown for each character. This event will feature some live music by Sam Houston State University Orchestra.

  • 3/30-3/31 - McDonald's Houston Children's Festival - Houston - $12-$14
  • The McDonald’s Houston Children’s Festival is the largest children’s festival in the United States and will be celebrating its 31st year in 2019. The festival features 14 Big Family Adventure Zones, five stages of music and entertainment, over 300 fun activities, and featured celebrities and characters.

  • 3/6-3/31 - Little Shop of Horrors - Houston - $25-$57
  • This smash sci-fi musical has devoured the hearts of theatre-goers for over 30 years! A nerdy flower shop clerk named Seymour stumbles across a new breed of plant which he affectionately names after his secret crush, Audrey. The exotic bloom offers the promise of fame and fortune, but Seymour soon discovers that the mysterious “Audrey II” also has a taste for blood, ominous origins and an insatiable appetite for power!

    Wind down from the weekend with drink specials, music from a live DJ, and rotating food trucks when Wicklow Heights hosts Recovery Sundays on its backyard patio.

  • 03/03 - 8th Annual Houston Kosher Chili Cookoff - Houston - $6-$11
    Bring the whole family to the 8th annual Houston Kosher Chili Cook-off for a fun-filled day outside in a festival atmosphere! Held at Beth Yeshurun Houston, the cook-off provides an opportunity for Houston’s Jewish community to come together and raise funds for Houston Jewish charities. Guests can enjoy chili in the outdoors with children’s activities, music, and a celebrity panel selecting the winning chili!

  • 03/05 - Mardi Craw at The Rustic - Houston - Free with RSVP
    Join us March 5 for live music by The South Austin Moonlighters as we celebrate Mardi Gras with a crawfish boil, jambalaya, face painting, beads and special Swamp Thing and Hurricane frozen cocktails thanks to Bacardi! This event is free with RSVP, but we also have limited VIP tickets available for purchase at $40. 

  • 03/30 - Brazilian Food and Music Festival - Sugar Land - $10 + fee
    The Brazilian Food & Music Festival will bring food from all over Brazil and lots of music. Guests can discover new culinary talents, value the musicians of their community in Texas, work in solidarity campaigns for the Brazilian Women Foundation, work their cultural plurality for Brazilians and all the communities that are interested in knowing a little more about our Brazil.

  • 03/24 - Muddy Princess Run - Houston
    Muddy Princess is an outdoor 5km (3.1 mile) obstacle mud run for women - and women ONLY! Our event is for Princesses of all sizes, ages and fitness levels. We don’t focus on fastest times or competitions, we focus on fun so be prepared to run, walk, crawl, climb, slide, balance and laugh your way along our course for an amazing “girls dirty day out!” We have no limits on the size of your team, it can be as many Princesses as you can convince to join you for a day in the mud! Please don’t feel excluded if you are entering as an individual, all of our Princesses are part of our Muddy Princess family and there will always be help and support to ensure everybody makes it over the obstacles and crosses the finish line at their own pace.

  • 03/23 - Run Houston! 10K Pledge Tour - Houston
    The Run Houston! Race Series is a series of races created to showcase unique venues throughout the Houston metro area. Each race features a family-friendly atmosphere and offers something for all ages and skill levels including 5k, 10k and kids 1k runs. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced runner, an elite competitor or an age-grouper looking to cross the finish line, you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for at the Run Houston! Race Series. 

  • 03/03 - 8th Annual Houston Kosher Chili Cookoff - Houston
    Bring the whole family to the 8th annual Houston Kosher Chili Cook-off for a fun-filled day outside in a festival atmosphere! Held at Beth Yeshurun Houston, the cook-off provides an opportunity for Houston’s Jewish community to come together and raise funds for Houston Jewish charities.   • 3/29-3/31 - Bayou City Art Festival - Houston
    The Art Colony Association, Inc. will celebrate 48 years of fine art and giving back to local nonprofits at Bayou City Art Festival in Memorial Park. As one of the nation’s premier outdoor fine art events, the three-day festival will provide patrons with the opportunity to personally meet artists, view original works, and purchase world-class art. The festival benefits local nonprofit partners and features live music, local food vendors and food trucks, beverages, entertainment, a Children’s Creative Zone, and more. An exhibition of student artwork composed of the top 30 finalists from the Middle School Art Competition will also be featured at Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park.

  • 3/30-3/31 - McDonald's Houston Children's Festival - Houston
    The McDonald's Houston Children’s Festival is gearing up for its 31st festival set for March 30 & 31, 2019 and we need YOU. The Festival benefits CHILD ADVOCATES and the abused and neglected children that it serves. The Festival has raised over $5.5 million for Child Advocates and the abused and neglected children it serves over the past 31 years of festival celebration.
