Located 30 miles west of Lubbock, TX along Highway 114, Levelland, Texas is a small city known in the area as “The City of Mosaics” because several downtown public buildings feature large format mosaics representing historic themes. Residents of Levelland also take great pride in their culture, which is evidenced by the strong presence of country and bluegrass music in the city.
Levelland presents several community events throughout the year such as the Early Settlers Day, which is held every July. Early Settlers Day is a festival showcasing the community’s local food and arts with a large parade. The town also hosts the annual Sausage Lover’s Festival in February, which similarly brings the community together to highlight the city’s German influence and showcase the city’s local sausage makers.
If outdoor recreation is more to your liking, Levelland offers an expansive city park system. The Levelland City Park has a 18 hole disk golf course available to the public. There is also a public skate park, complete with ramps, rails, and a half pipe. Every year, the city presents Splash Day, when visitors are invited to swim for free all day at the city’s public pools.
