- 8/1-8/4 - Qué Chola - Albuquerque
The Chola is a significant figure in the Latina imagination for the ways that she represents feminine strength, power, and resilience in the face of racial, gender, and economic adversity. This exhibition will explore this dynamic from a feminist perspective through art and popular culture. If you haven't come to see this exhibit yet, be sure to do so before August 4th!
- 08/02 - Artists Circle Gallery Exhibit Opening - Albuquerque
Join artist Walter Torres of Acoma Pueblo for the opening of his exhibit, “Evolve, Exist, Endure.” Light refreshments will be served as Walter offers insight and commentary on his inspiration and process, and you'll have an opportunity to purchase this popular artist’s fast-selling works.
- 08/02 - Movies on the Plaza: Wizard of Oz - Albuquerque
Join us “over the rainbow” for one of the greatest, best loved movies of all time, THE WIZARD OF OZ on the Civic Plaza big screen! Come enjoy the Civic Plaza fountain splash pad that you can play in; it's fun for kids of all ages! The Imagination Playground will also be there for kids to play. Bring your family and tell your friends! A concession stand will be available onsite!

This free family-friendly event features fun for the whole family including an artisan market, micro-brew garden, food trucks and live entertainment from local and national acts in the heart of Downtown Albuquerque.

- 08/10 - ABQ Kids Rock Fest - Albuquerque
Civic Plaza presents the fifth annual ABQ KIDS ROCK FESTIVAL, a fun event with a focus on young people that features a live animal show, musical performances by kids, a rock climbing wall, acrobats, magic, kids’ crafts, jumpers, vendors, a visit from an AFD fire truck, games, food trucks and much more (including beer and wine for the adults)!
- 08/13 - ABQ Megaband Jam - Albuquerque
“The Albuquerque Megaband” is an open community band which provides an opportunity for musicians to get together and play acoustic string band music. The objective is for participants to improve their musical skills while also building a repertoire of tunes such as those that are played for American folk dances.
- 08/14 - Albuquerque Concert Band - Albuquerque
The Albuquerque Concert Band is pleased to offer free concerts of fine band music to the public year-round in the Albuquerque area.
- 08/15 - YogaZo at Albuquerque Museum - Albuquerque
Yoga in the sculpture garden. Yoga in the galleries. Yoga on the roof deck. Put on your stretchy pants and bring a mat to 3rd Thursdays at Albuquerque Museum. Our friends at YogaZo will be leading us through all the moves - a different location within the Museum each month.

Join our monthly gathering for colcheras of all skill levels led by Annette Gutierrez Turk. If you are beginning or advanced in the traditional New Mexican style of embroidery, bring your current colcha project along and enjoy these monthly, informal, community work sessions to share ideas, resources and encouragement!

Designed to foster greater student interest in STEM subjects, workshops expose students to topics like virtual reality, 3-D design and printing, robotics, coding and more. This month we will be learning about Artificial Intelligence.

This free family-friendly event features fun for everyone including an artisan market, micro-brew garden, food trucks and live entertainment from local and national acts at a city park all under the summer sky.
- 08/25 - Electric Vehicle Car Show - Albuquerque
Join EV owners and enthusiasts as they show their electric vehicles, explain the features and capabilities and answer your questions. Some may provide EV rides. Plus, we’ll have activities for kids!
- 08/02 - Ghosts of Painted Ladies Past - Albuquerque - $20
Built in 1881 as a brothel and saloon with "wine room in connection," tales of buried money, hidden rooms, and Billy the Kid are all waiting inside. The evening will expose the disreputable history of the property, including true ghost stories told by the owner combined with ghostly magic performed by the ghost of Milton J. Yarberry. Based on the life of an actual historical figure, the performance is a "living history" lesson sure to delight any audience.
- 08/02 - Led Zeppelin Played Here - Albuquerque - $20
Led Zeppelin Played Here explores the start of the modern rock concert industry, focusing on Led Zeppelin's first month in the US, and a concert mystery: did they play on January 20, 1969 in a suburban Maryland gymnasium, in front of 50 confused teenagers, while President Richard Nixon was celebrating his first inauguration nearby?

Good friends and great works combine to make this a very special presentation of chamber music for the oboe and viola. The program will feature a premier of a new piece by internationally renowned New Mexico composer Frederick Frahm.

In this class you will learn the ancient technique of Viking Knit which was created by the Vikings in Scandinavia. You will create a bracelet out of copper, silver plate, or brass plate wire. You will also learn how to attach a toggle clasp to your finished bracelet.

The New Mexico Prickly Pear festival is the first in an annual series that seeks to celebrate everything prickly pear; food, art, music. The festival will feature vendors selling a vast variety of prickly pear products, cooking demonstrations showing visitors new and interesting ways to use prickly pear in their own kitchens, a prickly pear cocktail competition, live music, art, and much more.
