  • 02/02 - Dallas ISD STEM Expo - Dallas
    140+ hands-on STEM exhibits and the Dallas ISD STEM championships in mathematics, science, robotics, technology, and bridge building! Elementary, middle, and high school students and parents will participate with field experts, community members, educators, industry partners, and STEM organizations in a broad range of high-quality STEM experiences that spark awareness and raise interest in STEM topics, careers, and degrees.

    Look, learn and love your time at the Nasher every first Saturday of the month. Bring the whole crew to create, discover and make new memories together. Each month features a rotating schedule of things to see and do.

  • 02/02 - Art Explorers - Garland
    In honor of African American Heritage Month, children ages 6 -12 can create story quilts inspired by the work of artist Faith Ringgold. Children can learn about different types of art, then develop their STEAM art skills by creating their own masterpieces.

  • 02/05 - First Tuesday Social Justice Film Festival: A Man Named Pearl - Dallas
    Every month, at 7:00pm on the first Tuesday, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Oak Cliff screens a film focusing on an important social justice issue. A MAN NAMED PEARL tells the inspiring story of self-taught topiary artist Pearl Fryar, whose unlikely journey to national prominence began with a bigoted remark.

  • 02/09 - Write with Us Workshop - Dallas
    Write with Us is a free workshop for writers of all levels, designed to encourage and strengthen important art looking and writing skills. This workshop will aim to educate and inspire both new and experienced writers, as well as address the present need for more engaging critical responses to contemporary art in Dallas. All guests will be invited to submit their writing for the chance to be selected for publication on dallascontemporary.org. Advance registration is required due to limited space.

  • 02/09 - Chinese New Year Festival 2019 - Dallas
    Say farewell to the Year of the Dog and celebrate the year of the Earth Pig at the Crow Collection's 20th Chinese New Year Festival. A variety of festivities will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. including lion and dragon dances, art-making for all ages, retailer specials and giveaways.

  • 02/10 - Dallas Contemporary Public Tours - Dallas
    Join us for a free, drop-in tour of one of Dallas Contemporary’s current exhibitions. Tours are led by a DC Educator or Curator.

  • 02/13 - Dallas Contemporary Stroller Tours + Story Time - Dallas
    Parents and caregivers are invited to bring children ages 18 months and younger for an educator-led stroll through our current exhibitions. We encourage conversation, questions, + animated babies! Tours are followed by an artfully-inspired story time in the galleries.

  • 02/16 - Draw With Us Workshop - Dallas
    Artist Joel Murray will lead exhibition-inspired, live figure-drawing + still life sessions in DC’s galleries. Draw with Us at Dallas Contemporary gives artists of all kinds and skill levels the opportunity to practice figure drawing from professional live models. Male and female models will provide a variety of clothed poses. Basic materials are provided, but feel free to bring your favorite sketching tools!

  • 02/17 - Third Sunday Open House - Frisco
    Kids' crafts and games, entertainment, live animals, working blacksmiths, and docent-guided tours. All historic buildings are open to the public free of charge (does not include the museum).

  • 02/17 - Black History Month Festival - Arlington
    Celebrate African-American culture with community music and dance performances, displays, hands-on activities for children, lectures, free snacks and more. At 2 p.m., hear a talk about renowned photographers Gordon Parks and James Van Der Zee.

  • 02/21 - HP Literary Festival - Dallas
    The 23rd annual Highland Park Literary Festival will feature international award-winning novelist and New York Times bestselling author Nnedi Okorafor as the 2019 Keynote Speaker. Dr. Okorafor was born in the United States to two Nigerian immigrant parents. She writes African-based science fiction and fantasy for both children and adults. She is the author of the Black Panther: Long Live the King book by Marvel Comics.

    Come to the DFW Kid's Directory Summer Camp Expo to seek options to keep your children enriched, engaged and entertained the whole summer and into fall. Meet face-to-face with more than 40+ local and out-of-state summer camps, summer activities, family exhibitors, and vendors.

  • 02/28 - After-Hours Cocktail tour - Dallas
    Explore the largest private collection of samurai art and armor outside of Japan at The Ann & Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Museum: The Samurai Collection during a monthly after-hours cocktail tour from 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM on the last Thursday of every month.   • 2/1-2/3 - Lunar New Year Festival - Grand Prairie
    Celebrate the turn of the lunisolar calendar, one of the most significant traditions in Southeast Asian culture. The festival spans two weekends with nightly concerts, carnival games, Vietnamese bingo, dragon dances, martial arts demos and firecrackers. Kick off the year of the pig with a trip to the festival’s fresh flower market, or visit vendor booths where you’ll find authentic Asian street food and handmade merchandise.

  • 2/8-2/9 - Distinguished Artist Recital: Émile Naoumoff - Dallas
    St. Matthew's Cathedral Arts announces the 2018-19 Distinguished Artist Recital with a performance by virtuoso pianist Émile Naoumoff. The renowned pianist and composer, last disciple of the legendary Nadia Boulanger, brings a lifetime of virtuoso performance experiences to Cathedral Arts. On Saturday, February 9 at 10:00 am, Mr. Naoumoff will return to St. Matthew's to conduct a master class with select young pianists and chamber music ensembles from Southern Methodist University's Meadows School of the Arts.

    Visitors will be able to let their imagination run wild as they travel back in time with life-size animatronic dinosaurs along a half-mile nature trail. During the 13th Annual Dinosaurs Live! Life-Size Animatronic Dinosaurs exhibit, ten moving and roaring dinosaurs provide visitors with a captivating experience.Two life-size, stationary photo-op dinosaurs, Tyrannosaurus rex and Pachyrhinosaurus, provide unique opportunities for guests to take photos with their families and friends. Children are also welcome to play on these two photo-op dinosaurs.

    Ella of Frell is turning the traditional Cinderella story upside down!     Ibidis Mortem Productions is proud to present Pirates on the Prairie VIII, the pirate music concert that will have everyone talking (like a pirate). It will be an evening of nautical nonsense and swashbuckling fun for the whole family with not only music and comedy on stage, but caricature artists and face painters in the lobby before the show and during intermissions.

    18+. In celebration of Black History Month, Gettin' It Storytelling is presenting "Black HAIRstory" at the Dallas Comedy House. The show is a comedic look at a central facet of black identity. Stories and stand-up routines will focus of the aesthetics, politics, and personal journeys related to black hair. It will be a hilarious, heartwarming, relatable, and eye-opening show.

  • 02/02 - Gary Karr and Harmon Lewis - Richardson - $15
    Gary Karr, proclaimed "the world's leading solo bassist" by Time Magazine, has performed world-wide with notable orchestras and musicians including Leonard Bernstein and Stevie Wonder. Karr and long-time collaborator, pianist Harmon Lewis, will premiere "Romance with a Double Bass" by Robert Xavier Rodriguez

    We cordially invite you to attend the Fairytale Ball Sweetheart Dance. Dads, granddads, and uncles experience a magical evening with your little sweetheart. The evening includes dinner, dancing, a professional 5x7 photo, and each little girl will receive a special gift.   • 02/02 - North Dallas Toy Show - Farmers Branch - $2
    Enjoy perusing 90+ vendor tables of vintage toys and collectibles, including Hot Wheels, Transformers, Matchbox cars, DC and Marvel comic books, trading cards, Star Wars action figures and more. Touted as the largest toy show in Dallas, the event takes place on the first Saturday of every month.

  • 2/2-2/3 - North Texas Comic Book Show - Irving - $20
    Dallas' only true comic book show returns to the Irving Convention Center. We've got a great list of comic artists and creators that comic fans will love. Come out and meet some of the greats in the comic book industry, including artist icon Neal Adams, the creator of Black Lightning Tony Isabella, Denys Cowan, Joe Staton, Randy Emberlin, Bane creator Graham Nolan, and many, many more.

  • 02/08 - China's Beijing Dance Theater - Dallas - $12+
    In 2006, FENG Xiogang invited WANG Yuanyuan to work on his film The Banquet, based on Shakespeare's Hamlet. This inspired WANG to create a ballet telling the story of Hamlet through the eyes of the melancholy prince, who struggles with power, family, revenge and love. Stunningly choreographed, brilliant sets and dancers, and music written by world-renowned composer Tan Dun, this remarkable full evening ballet will leave audiences awe-struck.

  • 2/15-2/24 - The Secret Life of Girls - Dallas - $15-$40
    12+. Bullying in every form - from open tactics like gossiping and keeping secrets, to using friendship as a weapon - can become the prelude to dangerous behaviors like depression, cutting, and eating disorders. This show takes an unflinching look into the world of mean girls and exposes the consequences that bullying creates. Because that girl everyone is spreading rumors about…the one who just can't seem to fit in…chances are, you know who she is. Teens and those who love them are invited to see a performance, and then stay after for a conversation with local experts.

    Romance is in the air as the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra welcomes back violinist Kiarra Saito-Beckman, who will perform John Corigliano’s “Chaconne” from The Red Violin. This concert will also feature guest conductor Juan Carlos Lomonaco of Mexico.

  • 2/7-2/9 - 2019 Allstate Hot Chocolate 15k/5k - Dallas
    The Allstate Hot Chocolate 15k/5k is seeking energetic volunteers to assist with the Hot Chocolate Runner Expo and Race Day events. Volunteers provide key support to the thousands of participants as they “run for chocolate” and Make-A-Wish®. With a variety of exciting and delicious positions available, there is a spot for everyone, including individuals, teams, school groups, corporate groups, friends and family. The Allstate Hot Chocolate 15k/5k is not possible without the help of all our amazing volunteers, so come out and join the fun. No experience is required.

  • 02/09 - Fight For Air Climb - Dallas
    When you participate in a Fight For Air Climb event, you are stepping up to make a positive impact for those affected by lung disease. You will raise funds to support the American Lung Association's mission while climbing the stairs of a skyscraper. Whether you are climbing alone or with friends and family, for a healthier lifestyle or in honor of all those who are affected by lung disease, you will achieve a sense of personal accomplishment when you reach the top. Defeating the physical challenge and reaching the height of your fundraising potential will be a gratifying experience. Every Step Counts as we move forward in our fight for healthy lungs and clean air!

  • 02/09 - Cupid's Chase 5K - Dallas
    Community Options, Inc. invites runners, walkers, and rollers (baby strollers and wheelchairs) to help raise funds to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities by participating in our annual Cupid’s Chase 5K. Because of you…we can make a difference! Volunteers are crucial to our Cupid’s Chase events and our success. We truly appreciate all of the wonderful work that our volunteers do and their impact is invaluable. Choose Volunteer when registering to join the race day team!

  • 02/16 - Cupid's Undie Run - Dallas
    This February, be a part of Cupid’s Undie Run, a “brief,” mile(ish) fun run that takes place in the middle of a BIG party – all to find a cure for neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic tumor disorder that affects 1 in every 3,000 births. We run in our undies because those affected with NF can’t cover up their tumors to feel more comfortable, so why should we? So start a team of your friends, join a team, or run solo, just come out, have a blast, and raise some money for NF research (and earn some cool fundraising rewards too!).
