Visit a Park

With more than 21,000 acres of public parks, there is no lack of space to enjoy the outdoors in Dallas. Whether you want to take your dog to one of the may free public dog parks, play a pick-up game of basketball, or simply want to find a nice, quiet place outdoors to relax and read a book, parks are a great place to enjoy some quality outdoor time without having to spend a dime.

Klyde Warren Park

One of the newest parks in Dallas, Klyde Warren Park, is located in Downtown Dallas and is amazingly built above the 6-lane Woodall Rodgers Freeway. The park is a great spot to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Dallas Arts District and downtown skyscrapers, while devouring a meal from one of the many food trucks that serve up a variety of meals every day at the park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Klyde Warren Park also hosts weekly concerts and yoga classes that are open to the public.

White Rock Lake

There are a number of free activities to enjoy at White Rock Lake. The 9.33 mile trail around the lake is perfect for hiking, bike riding, or running. On a nice day, there is nothing better than exercising or picnicking around the lake as you watch the sailboats and feel the cool breeze coming off the lake water. The White Rock Bath House and Cultural Center is also located next to the lake. You can also visit the White Rock Lake Museum, which offers free admission and explores the flora, fauna, and history of the park.

The Dallas Farmers Market

The Dallas Farmers Market is open every day from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. near Downtown Dallas. The market features produce and other farm goods from farmers within 150 miles around Dallas, giving residents the opportunity to buy locally, or just take in the amazing array of color and selection. You can also get great deals on produce, flowers, spices, and nursery plants at the Farmers Market. Try Pecan Lodge barbecue for some of the best smoked meat in a state known for exceptional barbecue. The market also hosts a number of events such as cooking classes, live music, book signings, and festivals.
