You may be considering a career in the medical, legal or technology field. You may already be in one of them. We decided to collect and analyze salary data on popular occupations and determine how they stack up against one another under the same conditions: average hours worked per week versus money earned per hour. Here are our results.

How much Americans work vs. how much they make

As you can see, there are considerable differences in wages and hours of work required for various occupations. The moral of the story: Do your research when choosing your occupation so you know what to expect. More importantly, be aware of the implications of these facts in your career choice if work-life balance is a priority to you.
