Seven Personal Finance and Money-Saving Experts to Follow on Twitter

David Sung | November 4, 2013

When you’re looking for advice, the Internet is the perfect place to start, because many professionals have established themselves online. Twitter, among other social platforms, is the perfect place to stay up to date with current news and events when utilized correctly. Experts in a wide range of fields and industries use Twitter to share advice and knowledge with their followers.

In 140 characters or less, Twitter users can read a short snippet and decide whether or not the information and topic is something that they would be interested in, and you can usually find more information from a link the user provides. However, with so many personal finance “experts” on Twitter, and money saving tips coming from so many sources, it can be difficult to know who is worth following, and more importantly, taking advice from.  We’ve identified seven personal finance blogs and Twitter accounts that are worth following.

@FARNOOSH – Farnoosh Torabi

Farnoosh Torobi is a best-selling author and personal finance expert, whose advice was called “perfectly practical” by the New York Times. She is the host of the #1 personal finance web series “Financially Fit” on Yahoo! Shopping. Farnoosh shares personal finance tips and money saving advice on Twitter, through online videos, and in blog posts.

Moolanomy is a personal finance website and online magazine. Moolanomy provides followers with personal finance news, information, and article to help people “gain control of their finances, earn more, spend less, and live better.”

Money Crashers is “your guide to financial fitness.” The Money Crashers website contains informational and educational articles on various personal finance topics. On the Money Crashers Twitter account you can find a wide range of interesting personal finance topics, from money management and investing tips all the way to home improvement advice. Adding to their credibility, Money Crashers often links to sources outside of their own website.

@MoneySavingMom – Crystal Paine

Money Saving Mom is one Twitter account that all parents and homemakers should follow. Following @MoneySavingMom can help you stay up to date on all the best money-saving deals and tips. If there is a deal out there, you can be sure that she will Tweet it. Follow her on Twitter to learn money-saving tips and ideas, view hundreds of cheap and delicious recipes, access her coupon database, and learn about the best deals in stores near you.  You can also subscribe to her blog to get all the great deals she finds sent directly to your email account.

@Wisebread shares articles and informational Tweets from their community of bloggers at Wise Bread. Their mission is to provide readers with the information they need to “live large on a small budget.” They share tips, tricks, and information on how to attain your ideal lifestyle without incurring debt.

The Kiplinger website and Twitter account cover topics such as savings, spending, retirement, college, and even home and real estate. Kiplinger also has a number of resources to help you become more financially stable and save money. For instance, Kiplinger has a smartphone app, called the Kiplinger's Top 100 Money-Savings Tips that lets you access their blog articles and finance tips directly from you tablet or mobile device.

Of course, we are passionate about personal finance on our own Twitter account, too. We share financial articles and tips and occasionally create infographics. Follow @CashStore to learn money-saving tips, stay up with the latest financial news, read helpful articles, and learn about new financial technologies and trends. We often aggregate the best finance information for you, bringing you what you need right to your own Twitter feed.
