Jenison, Michigan is a small community of 17,000 located about 8 miles southwest of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Officially, Jenison exists as a statistical area in order to measure population. It is not an incorporated city and, therefore, the community does not govern itself. The area is currently under the jurisdiction of Georgetown Township, Michigan.

Jenison is renowned for its wonderful parks and recreation facilities. Hager Park is a 104-acre family park with a wide array of picnic areas, nature trails, horseshoe pits, and a large wooden children’s play structure. The Age of Discovery wooden structure was built by the community and it overlooks a terrain map of the United States. The park is open year round and has no entry fee.

Grand River Park features amenities for picnicking but also boasts a fishing dock, boat, kayak and canoe launch and many overlook platforms of the wetlands. There are also three miles of trails for hiking, cross country skiing and mountain biking. The hours of operation vary based on the time of year, and there are no boat launching fees. The Grand River Ravines Park also includes a lake, farm and vast amounts of trails. Most of this park’s 168 acres have yet to be developed.
