Situated along the banks of Lake Monona in Dane County, Wisconsin, the city of Monona is a small yet diverse city of about 8,000. During the winter, residents can enjoy ice skating on the lagoon, which also offers a warming hut stocked with hot beverages. The market offers live music and is a unique Monona neighborhood experience. Throughout the summer months, the Farmer’s Market presents special guest chefs and cooking events.

The community is home to various other events and sites. One such event in particular is the Maple Syrup Fest, the city’s largest festival of the year. There are also educational events presented at Monona’s Aldo Leopold Nature Center. Named after famous ecologist Aldo Leopold, the nature center was built as a place for people to reconnect with the outdoors and to learn about their natural surroundings.

A trip to Monona would not be complete without seeing the Indian Mounds located in the city. These unassuming, and seemingly natural, mounds are actually Indian burial grounds that offer an intimate look into Wisconsin's prehistoric past.
