Nampa, Idaho Facts

Founded in the 1880’s as a railroad town, Nampa, Idaho grew quickly in its early years. It is estimated that from its first year of existence to its second year, the number of homes built in the city grew by as much as 230%. Currently, the city still maintains its impressive expansion. There are over 81,000 people living in Nampa, today, and it is the fastest growing city in Canyon County, Idaho.

Residents of Nampa get to enjoy a beautiful countryside and outdoor activities that most city dwellers would envy. The Snake River runs along the western edge of the city and winds through canyons with 10,000-year-old petroglyph paintings, providing a provocative connection to America’s distant past. Residents can also head out for Rock Climbing, Alpine Hiking, or go to a nearby Ski Resort. The city also offers other inexpensive entertainment such as wine tastings at Sawtooth Winery or a round of golf at Ridgecrest Golf Club.

Nampa is also home to the historic annual Snake River Stampede Rodeo. The event started in 1913 as part of the city’s Harvest Festival and turned into a full-fledged rodeo in 1937. Today the event is considered one of the top rodeos in the country.
